Clarity. Specificity. Individuality.
Your resume is a marketing document. The average employer spends less than thirty seconds reviewing your resume. It is important to make it EASY for them to recognize your value. Your professional experience should not be a summation of your job description. Employers do not want to know what your position does, employers want to know what YOU have done. Prove your value.
A few tips to write a great resume:
- Do not tell it; sell it
- Ditch the objective -- Employers DO NOT care about what you want; they care about what you can uniquely do for them.
- Quantify your accomplishments whenever possible; hard data sells!
- Omit "References are available upon request" -- of course they are
- Format properly
